Launch event for British Transplant Games - Medway 2012

British Transplant Games logoTransplant Sport UK is preparing to officially launch the British Transplant Games - Medway 2012.

The breakfast launch event will take place at Rochester Cathedral on Wednesday, 2 November and will feature representatives from the organising committee, business community and more, as well as a live trampolining performance.

The 2012 British Transplant Games, one of the largest annual multi-sports events in the United Kingdom, is taking place in Medway between the Olympics and Paralympics from Thursday, 23 to Sunday, 26 August 2012.

With more than 600 recipients of a life-saving organ transplant taking part, and 1,500 supporters, the Games will deliver in excess of £2.5m economic boost to the area and, what we hope will be, the UK’s newest City.

Picture of competitors at the British Transplant Games 2011The publicity surrounding the Transplant Games not only demonstrates the benefits of successful organ transplantation, but highlights the desperate need for more people to sign on to the NHS Organ Donor Register.

Edwin Boorman OBE, chairman of the local organising committee, appealed to the local business community to support the launch and the Games, organised by Transplant Sport UK.

"Your support for the Games is vital to its success. Organ transplants save lives – maybe your life, your child’s life, the life of a member of your family, a colleague or employee.

"The Games are a Celebration of Life and offer many opportunities for sponsors to become involved in a cause that could affect anyone, at any time."
