National basketball finals return to Medway

Eight national league basketball teams will be travelling to Medway this weekend, all vying for national play-off glory.

England Basketball is staging four national league finals at Medway Park in Gillingham on Saturday, 14 April.

The exciting day of action will feature the climax of the Founders Cup and the Division Two Women and Division Three and Four Men’s competitions.

The action begins at 11am with the Founders Cup final, a competition open to men’s local league teams. This year’s playoff final will see defending champions London Rocco’s Raiders taking on the winner of the semi-final between London Lithuanians and Dagenham being played on Wednesday, 4 April.
Next up is the Division 4 Men’s playoff final at 1.15pm between Worcester Wolves II and Rossendale Raptors. Both teams won their respective league titles and will meet in what looks to be a great Division 4 clash.
The top two the Midlands-South East section meet in the Division 2 Women’s playoff final between Newham (NASSA) Stars and Loughborough Students Riders. League champions NASSA have cruised through their playoff games while it took an overtime period before Riders advanced with a win over Manchester Mystics. The teams have a win each over each other this season so anything can happen on 14 April in Kent.
The final game of the day, the Division 3 Men’s playoff final between Manchester Magic and Newham (NASSA) Neptunes, is fitting as it pits the champions from the North taking on the champions from the South. Men’s Shield winners NASSA and Magic have not met in any competition this season so the win on 14 April will be a showcase of who the best team is in Division 3 Men.
